Bio

I was born in Philly but lived in Atlanta from the age of 10 where I attended Georgia Tech (Go Jackets!). After graduation, I moved to Seattle and worked full-time at Microsoft for almost 4 years working on Cloud Native technology and developer tooling including the Docker Extension for VS Code and Visual Studio Container Tools. I am currently a Senior Product Manager at Vercel in their Platform Integrity Division.

I looove EDM Music (especially Trap and House), cooking food for my friends, and dancing the night away.

Why did you create SwolTime?

I'm addicted to the idea of creating something that anyone across the world can use. Since high school, I've been a frequent gym-goer and I've always seen folks using the default iOS timer throughout a workout. A few years out of learning computer science at Georgia Tech, I thought, why don't I make a timer with all the bells and whistles. I focused on giving people exactly what they need to slay a workout and promote a healthier lifestyle. Two and a half years of learning later, SwolTime has arrived!

Bio

Hi I’m Miki. I’m a healthcare professional turned UX designer based in Seattle. I was born in Japan and moved to the US when I was 4 and a half years old. My diverse skills and experience in healthcare, nano fabrication and visual arts have helped me make meaningful designs in academics and industry. I pour love into everything that I design.

I geek out over art and jazz. I also love anime, F1, sushi + wagyu. I spend most of my free time painting and my most recent work is currently being displayed at the F.P. Journe Boutique in Miami, FL.

What do you focus on when you design SwolTime?

For the design of SwolTime, I focus on creating a simple, easy to use, clean and elegant user interface while using the latest design trends.

Simple. Easy to use.

Our target users are individuals that go to the gym and/or love to workout. It should be an easy and intuitive process for any first-time user to use this app anywhere, anytime.

Clean and elegant user interface.

The timer home screen and the workout creation flows are in Dark Mode as default; Light Mode is an option as well. Fresh, vibrant colors were added to the timer to give it a great aesthetic boost. The burst of color against the dark background gives a great contrast which creates a modern and clean, yet elegant feel.
